So, It's day 33 on paleo. Today was a bit of a challenge.
My mom is here for a visit and she wanted to eat fish noodles. So we went to a shop that specialized in fish noodles. But in that shop, my food options were pretty limited since the fish was basically a side dish and the noodles were the "fillers" (Is that even a term? But I mean that the noodles were the ones that were suppose to fill you up and make you full)...
Anyway, I ended up eating about one-third of a plate of noodles. In terms of calories, I didn't overshoot my calorie limit. But that noodle was definitely made of wheat and the sauce was sugar-filled. However, no acid-reflux after eating that. But the other day, when I ate pastry, I did get heartburn.
Makes me wonder, is it a certain type of grains that affects me? Is it the preparation method? I don't know... Maybe I'll experiment in future.
My eczema was pretty bad the past few days. I have been eating eggs quite a lot. So this coming weeks, I'm planning to cut out eggs and see how I feel.
I spent the afternoon cooking a Chinese crispy roast pork dish (siew yoke) that is really really really delicious! I won't put the recipe here because it's not my own recipe. But click HERE for the youtube video that I got the recipe from.
I've used this recipe about 4 times now and every single time it turned out really good. I've got some photos:
I brought it to a rosary / dinner potluck and had pretty good comments all around. It disappeared really fast also.
Try the recipe out. It's really fabulous - but then again, I'm biased cos I love siew yoke.
